Description
My Concerto for Horn and Orchestra is the result of a close collaboration with horn player William Ver Meulen. The piece begins with a slow introduction and later features double-tonguing in the horn set against driving rhythms in the orchestra. A cadenza brings back the opening material, with the percussion performing an ostinato accompaniment. The second movement features antiphonal chimes with quasi-quotations from Gregorian chant. The third movement follows with angular gestures, syncopated rhythms, and wide leaps in the horn part, with the percussion set in opposition to the orchestra. Pierre Jalbert
