Playful Reflections of Nature for Children's Choir
- One of the last completed works by Peter Eötvös
- For children's choir (S/A)
- Intermediate - advanced level
Among the last of Peter Eötvös' completed works before his death in 2024, 13 Haïkus is a playful composition for children's choir. Inspired by Japanese miniature poems and imbued with French lightness, the cycle sees young singers imitating the sounds of nature, from the trilling of birds, to the fluttering of butterflies, as well as the croaking of frogs.
Balancing humour with refinement, and offering young choirs an enjoyable entry into contemporary music, the set (I–III Uguisu, IV–VI Alouette, VII Moineau, VIII–X Papillon, XI–XIII Grenouille) received its world premiere at Maison de la Radio, Paris, on 18 January 2024. An ideal addition to both concert repertoire!
