Jean Guillou, born 18 April 1930 in Angers, studied organ at the Conservatoire in Paris with Dupré, Duruflé and Messiaen and is a leading organ vituoso. 'Alice in Organ Land' for Organ and Narrator is a virtuoso piece of ca. 30 minutes duration. The male or female narrator, in the guise of a girl based on Carroll's Alice, experiences the tonal range and the different registers of the organ.
