Es gibt kein Ende ohne Anfang. Es beginnt nichts ohne Ende. Das Ende ist die Verheißung des neuen Anfangs. Dieses Stück hilft, die Zeit zu überwinden. Ich komponierte es während eines Aufenthalts in Norwegen, wo die Erde sich langsamer dreht. Es ist Knut Vaage gewidmet. Die Klangstruktur wiederholt Kompressionen, die der Zahlenreihe 7-6- 5-4-3-2-1 folgen. Die beiden Teile The Beginning of the End und After the End sollten attacca ineinander übergehen.
