Hesketh is currently 'Composer-in-the-House' with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra during its year as Cultural Capital 2008. Like the Sea, Like Time was the result of a commissioned to write a work celebrating our relationship with the sea, setting haunting poetry from a wide variety of sources.

Beschreibung
Like the Sea, Like Time zeichnet die Geschichte Liverpools, einer der ältesten Städte Großbritanniens, nach. Das Stück entstand anlässlich des 800jährigen Bestehens der Stadt. Kenneth Hesketh verwendet dabei Texte von Thomas Hardy, Walt Whitman und Edgar Allan Poe. Die Uraufführung war 2008 ein Höhepunkt in Heskeths Amtszeit als Hauskomponist des Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
