Ikikaiku

Ikikaiku (Eternal Echo) holds a legendary position among Kortekangas's works for youth choirs. The work uses texts from the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, in Finnish, English and Spanish. The choir is divided in three separate entities and are distributed around the hall, producing an echo - an eternal echo. A commission by the Tapiola Choir in 1999 for the Songbridge 2000 project. Parts of the work are notated unconventionally, making the work a good work for youth choruses to explore modern notation.
