Description

Celebrating the Viking chieftain Tróndur (c. 945 - 1035), this work was written to mark the unveiling of a statue dedicated to the Faroese legend in summer 2008 with celebrated Faroese singers Runi Brattaberg and Eivør Pálsdóttir. Tróndur is a central figure in the early history of the Faroe Islands as told through the Faereyinga Saga. Gavin Bryars sets passages from the Sagas in their original Faroese alongside passages in English to create this atmospheric and enchanting tale.
