A collection of three choral songs setting the words of three First World War poets, commissioned in 2014 by the choir Sospiri to mark the centenary of the start of the war. The songs are charged with emotion with the music reflecting words masterfully. Tonally centred, but with chromatic inflexions, and with a variety of textures, the set would be a very rewarding addition to intermediate and advanced choirs’ remembrance repertoire.
