Ma Xiaohui studied the erhu at the Sichuan Conservatoire. The erhu is a Chinese violin with a small resonator, a long neck with unfretted fingerboard and only two strings. After her studies, Ma Xiaohui became a member of the Shanghai Orchestra of Traditional Music. A few years ago, the open-mindes musican already worked with the experiment-loving cellist Yo-Yo Ma for a film project.
