À propos de Sergej Maingardt

Sergej Maingardt (*1981) understands music as an important contemporary art that can reflect the rapid global changes in the world and focusses on socio-political topics. Maingardt‘s stylistic devices make use of pop-cultural influences which gives tremendous immediacy to his pieces. His music is influenced by modern technologies and the ways in which they change human perception.
As well as in performances in Germany and Europe, i.e. at the Donaueschinger Musiktage, IRCAM ManiFeste, Darmstadt Summer Courses, ACHT BRÜCKEN Festival, Münchner Kammerspiele, in HELLERAU and Gaudeamus Muziekweek, his pieces can be experienced internationally and in very different contexts: from Canada, Panama and Mexico to Russia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Laos and South-Africa.
Maingardt studied composition with Prof. Michael Beil at the Cologne Hochschule für Musik und Tanz (HfMT) and media and cultural analysis at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. He received several scholarships, i.e. from Deutsche Akademie Rom Villa Massimo in Casa Baldi. Since 2021 he holds a guest professorship for transdigital composition at the HfMT Cologne.
