Nina Janssen-Deinzer (clarinet) was born in Cologne in 1972. She studied with Hans Deinzer in Hanover, earning a concert diploma.Praised by audiences and critics alike, she has appeared throughout the world as a soloist and chamber music performer, and has won first prizes at competitions such as "Jugend Musiziert", the German Music Competition, and the International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka. She is enthusiastically committed to contemporary music as well as the Classical and Romantic literature.
Nina Janssen-Deinzer has been a member of Ensemble Modern since 2006. She has premiered numerous works, many written especially for her, by composers such as Mark Andre, Arnulf Herrmann, and Saed Haddad. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra, the German Radio Philharmonic in Saarbrücken, and the Ensemble Modern Orchestra, as well as at festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Donaueschingen Festival, Ruhrtriennale, Salzburg Biennale, and Ultraschall Berlin. She plays saxophone as well as the full range of clarinets from Eb to contrabass.
Since 2007, she has regularly directed education projects at various schools. She has taught at the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) since 2006, and has been a guest teacher with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and at numerous universities and conservatories throughout the world. Since 2015, Nina Janssen-Deinzer has been a professor for woodwind chamber music at the Nuremberg University of Music.
