Maurice Greene, britischer Organist und Komponist, wurde 1718 Organist der St. Paul's Cathedral in London, 1727 zugleich als Nachfolger von W. Croft Organist und Komponist der Chapel Royal, 1730 an Stelle von Th. Tudway Professor in Cambridge und 1735 Komponist der King's Band. Seine Hauptwerke sind "Forty Select Anthems" (2 Bände, 1743), "Six Solo Anthems" (1747), die Oratorien "Jephthah" (1737) und "The Force of Truth" (1744), mehrere Pastoralopern bzw. -oratorien sowie "A Collection of Lessons for the Harpsichord" (1750).
