À propos de Hugh Davies
Hugh Davies (*1943 in Exmouth, UK, †2005 in London) was fond of Karlheinz Stockhausen’s music in his youth, studied musical history and composition at the University of Oxford 1961-64, and subsequently began working at the Studio for Electroacoustic Music in Cologne, where he became the only notator of Stockhausen’s works from this period. After 1967 he developed his own instruments for improvised music, which he packed into a hollowed-out volume of an encyclopedia, so this music was called SHOZYG. Parallel to his worldwide performances and many records, he was a member of the Artist Placement Group, and as of the 1990s he was recognized as one of the most distinguished musicologists of twentieth century music.
