À propos de Frank Nimsgern

Frank Nimsgern was born in Saarbrücken on 4 May 1969, the son of the internationally renowned singer Siegmund Nimsgern. His father’s profession led him to many great cities all over the world, even as a child. Sometimes his mother Mechthild taught him and his brother Christoph privately in New York, Chicago, San Francisco or London.

Before turning to music full time, Frank Nimsgern painted, and designed comics. He attended schools in Schleswig-Holstein, the Saarland and the Rhineland-Palatinate. While graduating, he toured as a professional musician, for example with Christoph Spendel or Pete York with whom he later made the ARD television series ’Superdrumming’. His own band, the ’Frank Nimsgern Group’, has been existing since 1991.

Nimsgern became known for albums and appearances with musicians such as Chaka Khan, Billy Cobham, Gino Vannelli, Klaus Doldinger, or the Toto star Bobby Kimball. Since 1990 Frank Nimsgern has given more than 600 concerts with his band in Germany, the USA, Southeast Asia, France, Switzerland, Poland, Austria, India, Siberia and Africa (some of them in collaboration with the Goethe Institute), and has released five solo CDs (three of them being international releases).

The composer and arranger of the Berlin ’Classic Open Air 1994’ was also very successful in advertising. He was commissioned to produce and write the music for international commercials for Peugeot, Route 66-M.Astor and Phillips Car Systems (’You’ll find your way’) as well as for national television and cinema commercials such as Karlsberg Ur-Pils, Schwartau and Langnese.

At the Berlin FriedrichstadtPalast he gained theatre experience as composer and arranger of the musical Lucky Ladies, the very successful revue Träume, the children’s revue opera Hänsel und Gretel, and Wanted.

After these great successes, he received further commissions for musicals, such as Paradise of Pain and SnoWhite – Was wirklich geschah at the Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken (world premières in October 1999 and October 2000 respectively), and the revue Elements at the Berlin FriedrichstadtPalast (world première in February 1999) which was quite a hit with more than 700,000 visitors.

For his musicals Frank Nimsgern was awarded the ’Goldene Europa’ in the category of up-and-coming artists by the Saarländischer Rundfunk in December 2000.
