À propos de Elmar Schrammel
Elmar Schrammel was born in Freiburg in 1976. He grew up in the sunny Breisgau region where he also discovered his passion for music. Piano studies with James Avery and Martin Hughes in Freiburg and Berlin. He holds a postgraduate concert-level diploma with distinction for contemporary music from the Saar Hochschule für Musik. Master classes with Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Herbert Henck and Christoph Keller, Yukiko Sugawara. In 1998 Elmar was awarded the Arts Prize of the City of Emmendingen. In 2001 Elmar received a scholarship of the Stuttgart Academy Schloss Solitude and in 2005 of the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt. Upon invitation of various new music ensembles (Ensemble Modern, Adapter, Linea, SurPlus, Aventure) Elmar has performed at festivals like, among others, MaerzMusik Berlin, FRUM Reykjavík, ISCM World Music Days, Musica Viva München, Musica Strasbourg, Aspects Caen. In this diverse context Elmar is in continuous exchange with sound artists and composers of our time.In 2008, the trio Breuer | Engler | Schrammel released a much noticed production of Feldmanʻs For Philip Guston (WER 67012) on the label WERGO. Moreover, Elmarʻs discography includes recordings of John Cage (WER 67062), Mathias Spahlinger and Peter Eötvös.
