Elena Schwarz is valued for her precise knowledge of scores and for the clarity of sound she brings to music from a wide range of periods. She has appeared with orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Angeles Phil harmonic, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, BBC Symphony Orchestra and WDR Sinfonieorchester. Contemporary music is a central focus of her work: as Conductor in Residence at Klangforum Wien and through collaborations with ensembles such as MusikFabrik, Ensemble intercontemporain, Basel Sinfonietta and Ensemble Modern, she is a committed advocate of new works. Opera productions have taken her to Aix-en-Provence, Amsterdam, Lyon, Oslo, Nice and Stuttgart.
