Amen Feizabadi is a multidisciplinary composer, filmmaker, and performer whose artistic practice spans ensemble and orchestral works, hybrid music theatre productions, and audiovisual compositions. Born in Tehran in 1983, he lives and works between Berlin and Tehran. He studied Integrative Composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.
Feizabadi has received numerous awards, grants and fellowships, including from the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, Villa Massimo/Casa Baldi, the Tarabya Cultural Academy in Istanbul, the Berlin Academy of the Arts, the Berlin Senate, the Goethe-Institut, and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, as well as the special prize at the VISIONEN Festival in Hanover.
His works have been performed by renowned ensembles and orchestras such as the Basel Sinfonietta (conducted by Titus Engel), Ensemble Adapter, Zafraan Ensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten, Sonar Quartett, LUX:NM, Trickster Orchestra (conducted by Cymin Samawati), ensemble unitedberlin, Bochum Symphony Orchestra, and Ensemble CRUSH.
Feizabadi’s projects have been presented worldwide at festivals and events, including the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Ultraschall Berlin – Festival for New Music, Deutsche Oper Berlin/Tischlerei, Klangwerkstatt Berlin, Festival NOW! Essen, Staatstheater Darmstadt, the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), the Berlinale, Festival Nano#2, and Fellow Travelers in New York.
