Since her studies in piano performance in Tokyo and Freiburg im Breisgau, Akiko Okabe is much in demand as a chamber musician and soloist in Germany and abroad. In 2006 she joined Ensemble Aventure, performing with them numerous premieres, participating in concert tours of Europe, South America and Asia and recording several CDs. She gives workshops in different countries and concer- tizes as a soloist with various European orchestras with a broad range of reper- toire from Mozart to Spahlinger. For several years, she has been working in a chamber formation with the flute player Mario Caroli. Her programmes are char- acterized by a well-conceived juxtaposition of works from the past and the present. Akiko Okabe is also very interested in working with artists of other dis- ciplines.
