Description
Commissioned by Streetwise Opera, an organisation working with people who have experienced homelessness, Gavin Bryars selected lines from Walt Whitman’s famous poem Song of the Open Road and set them for 3-part amateur choir and small ensemble. Whitman’s words, celebrating the ‘the road’ as place where people from all walks of life come together, combined with Bryars’ beautiful, yet fragile music creates a deeply humbling experience.
