The Homage Etudes
Product Details
Description
This collection follows the tradition of important etude cycles, which are not so much about training pianistic technique, but rather explorations of composing for the piano, thus entering into a contemporary dialog with great predecessors and role models in the genre. Created on various occasions for renowned soloists, Brett Dean's musical and intellectual cosmos ranges from Bach to Beethoven, Brahms and Liszt to Janáček, Lutowsławski and Kurtág – he pays homage to all of them in his own typical style. The pieces - mostly virtuoso, but sometimes also delicate and contemplative - three of which in turn comprise several movements, are suitable for both individual and complete performances.
