Traditional Jewish poetry adapted and translated by John Hollander

Product Details

Description

Written for the 1991 BBC Proms and first performed by the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra under their Director, John Eliot Gardiner. Alexander Goehr acknowledges Arnold Schoenberg’s Moses und Aron but the work owes its inspiration to Monteverdi and Handel in its vivid choral and orchestral writing.
