Description
Music has lost historical perspective in today’s post-modern situation. On one hand we seem to enjoy the diversity, however, on the other we face an ‘almost anything-goes’ confusion, and the difficulty of finding new coordinates and prospects. It can be said that my Symphony No. 9 is a journey to confront the contradictory situation of our society and to find a way to the next transition of my music. This work has four movements: the first is the shortest; toward the end, the length and the complexity of the movements gradually increases. Toshi Ichiyanagi
