Description
Rodion Shchedrin has compiled extracts from his concert opera The Enchanted Wanderer for his friend Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, to produce the compact orchestral work Symphonic Diptych. Following on from Grusha the Gypsy for mezzo-soprano and piano and Grusha’s Gypsy Song for mezzo-soprano and large orchestra, this is the third extraction from the large scale composition which was premiered in 2002.
