Stage Works

This catalogue contains details of around 1,000 stage works for which performance material is available for hire from Schott Music.

These works include not only operas, operettas and ballet music but also incidental music for theatrical works and spoken theatre works. The catalogue contains our own works from the publishing houses of Schott Music London, Mainz, New York and Tokyo and additional works from other publishing companies represented internationally by Schott Music. A list of these publishing companies can be found from page X onwards.

The catalogue lists composers alphabetically with their works. We have categorised the works of each composer according to different genres (e.g. opera or ballet) and the works appear in chronological order within each genre. A comprehensive index can be found at the back of the catalogue from page 165 onwards which will provide help if you are searching for works of a particular genre.

We would particularly like to draw your attention to two specialised indexes which are aimed at helping you with programme planning: the Librettists and authors of texts index provides an alphabetical list of all individuals involved with the text of the stage works in this catalogue. The Short operas index lists all operas that are one hour or less in duration, providing the opportunity to combine works, or to present shorter operatic events.
