Hermann Schröder is considered as one of the most influential innovators of Catholic sacred music of the 20th century. His three-movement Sinfonische Hymnen was composed during his period as the conductor of the symphony orchestra of the military radio station in Belgrade and is characterised by a sensual late-neoclassical orchestral language.
