Description
Hugo Schlemüller was born on 2nd October 1872 in Königsberg and died on 7th August 1918 in Frankfurt-on-Main; he worked as a violoncellist in Munich and Leipzig, and later as a lecturer at the conservatory in Frankfurt-on-Main; Schlemüller was the author of various publications (e.g. “Konzertprogramme der Gegenwart” (contemporary concert programs) 1910/14); he wrote comprehensive teaching methods, virtuoso cello pieces and concerts for violoncello and orchestra. The "Serenade" is a salon piece, which gives cello students the opportunity to show their progresses in technique up to the fourth position and an expressive tone in a ?concert.
