Description
This work was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 for the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth. It was first performed in May 2009 by Andrew Zolinsky at Birmingham Town Hall, UK (live broadcast on BBC Radio 3), a venue familiar to Mendelssohn as he conducted the première of his oratorio Elijah there in 1846. Scherzino also forms part of Lloyd Moore's Suite for Piano.
