Description
Published as Salonstücke [Salon Pieces] Op. 52, the seven character pieces are delightful works of the Romantic period that contribute to the success of any concert and can be performed by students and amateur musicians as well as professional flutists. Andersen succeeded in creating sublime melodies and enriching them by novel harmonic progressions to convey the ideas and emotions suggested by the titles. Andersen was at the height of his career as a composer when he wrote the Salon Pieces, whose two suites with their varied movements continue to delight audiences today as they did delight their admirers in the Berlin salons over a century ago. The National Flute Association has selected this edition as a compulsory piece for the Convention Performers Competition in Las Vegas 2012.
