Rondo

Mozart‘s Haffner Serenade was given its name by the reason why it was composed at all: In 1776 the daughter of the mayor of Salzburg, Sigmund Haffner, celebrated her wedding, and Mozart created a magnificent festive music for this event. The fourth movement of the eight-movement work, a rondo, was transcribed by Fritz Kreisler for solo violin and large-scale Romantic orchestra including bass clarinet and harp. The solo part was arranged by Kreisler in a virtuoso manner and larded with technical highlights such as double stops. In addition, the work ends in a cadence in which Kreisler could develop his very own sound completely independently
of the original work.
