Claude Smith composed this Rhapsody in 1971 for Warren Covington, an accomplished trombonist and leader of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra from 1958-1961. It represents a remarkably creative and challenging collaboration between two musicians, each at the height of their artistic careers.
