Description
Martin Christoph Redel, composer and percussionist by trade, presents the movements of Resonances in this contemporary triptych like three interlocked rooms. Framed by two explosive 'toccatas', the slow movement 'Nocturnal Apparitions', dedicated to George Crumb and Béla Bartók, appears in the middle. As in a second reflection, a deeper-lying tripartite structure is again revealed here.
The ever-changing reflections of the material give the work its wide dynamic range. The development of the musical thoughts proceeds multi-directionally throughout the work. The composer creates its sonority, precisely balanced, from a wealth of colours and playing techniques in all four parts.
