Product Details

Description

In 2000 Stewart Wallace was tasked with composing a score to an already existing choreography for the Dallas Fort Worth Ballet, indeed opposite the way a ballet is normally created. A score grounded in tonality but featuring free use of dissonance, Peter Pan features thick, colorful textures that succeed in enhancing, rather than distracting from, the choreography. Wallace also engages in a healthy dose of borrowing, with snippets of Bernstein‘s Candide, Britten’s Peter Grimes and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite handsomely interspersed throughout the score.
