About Normunds Sne

The oboist and conductor Normunds Sne is a graduate of the Latvian Academy of Music and has also studied with Heinz Holliger, Tamara Fidler, Yuri Simonov, and Jorma Panula. He was the coprincipal oboe with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra between 1978 and 1997 and now performs both as a chamber music player and soloist. In 2007 he joined the teaching staff of the Latvian Academy of Music as professor of oboe. During his conducting career Normunds Sne has performed with world-renowned soloists such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Gidon Kremer, Natalia Gutman, David Geringas, Isabelle Faust, Patrick Gallois, Christian Lindberg, Truls Mørk, Terje Rypdal, Joe Zawinul, and others and recorded more than twenty CDs.
