About Matthias Brandt

Matthias Brandt was born in Berlin in 1961 and studied acting in Hannover. His first theatrical engagement was in the Oldenburg State Theater. There followed engagements in the Bochum Schauspielhaus and other theaters. Since 2000, he has appeared in numerous film and television productions, among them In Sachen Kaminski in 2005, for which he received the Bavarian Television Prize. He has been awarded the German Critics’ Prize, the Golden Camera, and twice the Adolf Grimme Prize. In 2010, he received the German Audio Book Prize for Ake Edwardson’s Der Himmel auf Erden. In the same year, under the direction of Dominik Graf, he appeared for the first time as the Munich Police Commissioner in the crime series Polizeiruf 110. For his performances as the Commissioner he was awarded a Bambi award in 2011, another Bavarian Television Prize in 2012, and in 2013 the German Actors’ Prize. In September of 2016, he made his debut as an author with his book Raumpatrouille, published by Kiepenheuer & Witsch.
