Moscow City Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic"

About Moscow City Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic"

The Russian Philharmonic was founded in 1995 by the independent broadcasting organization, TV-6 Moscow. Five years later, the city government recognized its artistic achievement by making it one of the official “Moscow Symphony Orchestras”. Its first artistic director and chief conductor was Alexander Vedernikov. In 2004, Yuri Kokhnev assumed these positions and was in turn succeeded by Maxim Fedotov. Prominent conductors and soloists have performed with the orchestra in Russia, Western Europe, and Asia. The orchestra’s CD recordings include symphonic works as well as modern compositions.
