About Ferenc Aszodi

Ferenc Aszodi was born in Budapest, Hungary, on 6 August 1929, where he began playing the trumpet at the age of 11.

After the war, he studied music at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, with the emphasis on the trumpet.
During the same period, he embraced every opportunity to play jazz, and within a short period, was able to create his own band.

In 1956 Ferenc Aszodi came to Germany: 2 months after his arrival, he became the principal trumpet of the Max Greger Tanzorchester, where he remained for 13 years.

In 1970, Ferenc became a member as principal trumpet of the Sudwestfunk-Orchestra in Baden-Baden, which was led by Rolf Hans Mueller. It was during this time, when Ferenc Aszodi also became known as a specialist in folklore and traditional brass music, which led to decade-long engagements with the famous Original Schwarzwaelder Musikanten, as principal flugelhorn, and principal trumpet with the legendary Ernst Mosch Original Egerlaender.

Ferenc Aszodi died on 2 July 2005, while visiting his son in Los Angeles, California.
