About Christian von Goetz

Christian von Götz studied opera direction at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Vienna and the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin. His productions were shown at the opera houses of Cologne, Leipzig, Wiesbaden, Lisbon, and Porto, at the Edinburgh International Festival, in Bonn, Dortmund, Saarbrücken, Bremen, Kassel, Salzburg, and Munich. He worked with singers like Camilla Nylund, Samuel Youn, Ashley Holland, Benjamin Bruns, Dalia Schaechter, Gabriela Fontana, Mark Stone, Jane Henschel, Stephanie Houtseel or Ursula Hesse von den Steinen. His work has increasingly attracted the attention of the national media. “Opernwelt” had a full-page interview with him. His productions were called a “big hit” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) or have been regarded as one of “the season’s most thrilling and exciting productions” (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). With his celebrated production Bluthochzeit in January 2013, he successfully rediscovered the composer Wolfgang Fortner.
