Description
Just under 220 years after The Creation by Joseph Haydn, Ensemble intercontemporain and the Philharmonie de Paris co-commissioned a contemporary setting of the book of Genesis. In this project, ‘EIC 40 – Genesis’, seven composers have created a musical setting of a single day of the Creation. Chaya Czernowin undertook the composition of the first and most fundamental act of creation in which God created heaven and earth – ‘Let there be Light!’ – with a 10-minute work for large ensemble.
