Description
More than 60 years old, Priaulx Rainier's Movement for strings has never been performed. The work was to have been premiered at the 1953 St. Ives Festival which the composer organised along with Sir Michael Tippett and the sculptor Barbara Hepworth, both of whom were close friends. Rainier had written Movement in the winter of 1950-1951 during a stay with Hepworth in St. Ives. However, the performance was cancelled – most likely because it was too hard for the players.
