Luminosity

concerto for wind ensemble
wind ensemble
Nach and the mountains rising nowhere (1977), From a Dark Millennium (1980), In evening’s stillness … Joseph Schwantner
Edition: Performance material

Description

Luminosity, cast in three extended movements, is the latest and most ambitious work I have written for wind ensemble, following and the mountains rising nowhere (1977), From a Dark Millennium (1980), In evening’s stillness … (1996) and Recoil (2004). Movement I (Spiritoso e energico) and III (Grande e con forza) exploit each of the wind, brass and percussion choirs while Movement II (Misterioso) is a slow movement that takes the form of a mini-concerto for solo clarinet. Joseph Schwantner
