Description
Washington Flip just about makes ends meet as a fi lm extra. One day on set, he plucks up the courage to give his adored fi lm diva Jean Diamond a kiss, but then realises that he has kissed her double. His subsequent fit of laughter at his mistake is so infectious that the entire film crew are also affl icted by gales of laughter. The inventive film producer immediately sees a chance for a great publicity stunt and markets ‘the man who had to laugh’ as a living advertisement for his production company. The musical is set in the film and media world of the 1930s with genuine and fake Hollywood and Broadway stars. The composers have immense fun with their tongue-in-cheek take on popular dances and swing.
