Description
The title of this piece refers to the segregation of musical material – Joe Duddell became interested in the perception of disjointed gestures while studying Webern. However, Duddell quotes Stravinsky’s Symphony of Wind Instruments or Tippett’s Concerto for Orchestra as more obvious influences. The title is also borrowed from Joy Division’s album Closer, which for Duddell still has a strong resonance.
