Description

This short piano piece started life as a sketch by Percy Aldridge Grainger entitled Little March Air (Aug 20, 1919) composed walking along 125 th Street, NY on his way to 129 th Street Station in Harlem, NY. It was completed and arranged for piano solo by the pianist/composer Ronald Stevenson and given its première performance at a recital held in White Plains Public Library (April 10, 1987) where by a vote of the audience it was renamed to Harlem (125 th Street) Walkabout. There is also a version for military band by Walter S. Hartley as the final movement of A Tit-Bits Suite.
