Description
In Fünf Stücke für kleines Orchester I have attempted to juxtapose individual sections to provide maximum contrast in character, tempo and the combination of individual instruments, whereby solo sections are repeatedly alternated with larger-scale tonal layering.
The work is framed by the beginning of the first piece and the final section of the fifth piece in which the high strings take over the sound material of the high woodwinds at the start of the first piece, interspersed by eight-part chord progressions in the woodwinds which become extended in two halves in ascending and descending directions.
