Product Details

Description

‘Per’ means ‘through’ as in ‘pass through’, and ‘sonare’ means ‘reverberation’ or ‘resonance’ in Latin. Thus Per Sonare means resounding throughout the universe or the world. The idea of mask is also conveyed by the fact that the human voice reverberates when passing through a hole, such as the mouth-hole in a mask. One flautist plays four different flutes, moving from one to another just as if he were putting on and taking off various masks. As long as human existence is multi dimensional, human music too must be something polyphonic, resounding through the mouth holes of our many personas. Toshio Hosokawa
