In this work for high voice and orchestra Iain Hamilton sets poetry from five tudor poets in which he sought to capture the ecstasy, wonder and serenity of love. He went on to write a tragic counterpart to the piece, his Nocturnal on St Lucy’s day, a setting of John Donne for vocal ensemble.
