Description

This beautiful short work was commissioned in 2014 to celebrate the 20th wedding anniversary of two of the composer’s friends. It was first performed by the chamber choir Tenebrae on their album of music by Will Todd, Lux et Veritas (2014).
The poem, by Rev Catherine Lomas, works beautifully set to music – there is a wonderful lyricism to the imagery of the words which cries out for music. Primarily homophonic throughout, the warm tonality and close, but cleverly-constructed harmonies will be familiar to those who know Todd’s ‘non-jazz’ choral voice.
The work may offer some challenges to an intermediate choir, but is sure to be a real success with audiences and singers alike.
