The serenade 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' in G major is one of the most famous and most popular works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and generally one of the most popular works of 'classical' music. Everything of 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' seems to be simple, entertaining and not demanding. But it is exactly this effect that is the result of a great knowledge of art and extraordinary artistic skills.
The serenade "Night Music", composed 1782 in Vienna for Prince Liechtenstein, is one of the most famous pieces for wind octet besides KV 375. It is known under the appellation 'Nacht Musique' and is an inspired fusion of the light mood of a Serenade with sophisticated contrapuntal writing, for example in the canonic treatment in the Trio of the Minuet.

Die Serenade "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" in G-Dur zählt zu den bekanntesten und beliebtesten Werken Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts und zu den volkstümlichsten Werken der "klassischen" Musik überhaupt. Alles an der "Kleinen Nachtmusik" wirkt einfach, unterhaltend und eigentlich nicht anspruchsvoll. Doch gerade diese Wirkung ist Resultat höchsten Kunstverstandes und größter Kunstfertigkeit.
Die Serenade "Nacht Musique", die Mozart 1782 in Wien für den Fürsten von Liechtenstein komponierte, gehört ebenso wie KV 375 zu den bekanntesten Werken für Bläseroktett. Sie verbindet auf geradezu geniale Weise den leichten Serenadenton mit kunstvoller Kontrapunktlehre (so etwa im kanonisch geführten Trio des Menuetts).
