Inspired by the classical tradition of arranging operas and symphonies for wind ensemble to enable them be played in chamber concerts, Nigel Shore has written a Harmoniemusik version of Richard Strauss’ opera Der Rosenkavalier for 15 instruments. This Harmoniemusik is in three 15-minute movements, structured according to the three acts of the opera.
