Product Details

Description

Edgar Varèse is the composer who most influenced Joji Yuasa. Not long after Yuasa joined ‘The Experimental Workshop’, a synthetic art group formed by young artists, musicians, and writers in Tokyo in 1951, he was deeply shocked when listening to Varèse’s music for the first time. Yuasa’s eyes and ears were opened up by the craft of music by Varèse that was not found in the development of traditional western music. Chronoplastic II is regarded as an acoustic structure in which space and time expand and contract, and Yuasa’s compositional technique and his constructive method of sound he has built up over the last 20 years, occur in the plastic space and time.
